EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) Owen Tolson of Army, who ranked seventh in the nation in punting, was one of two free agents signed by the New York Giants on Thursday.
The Super Bowl champions also signed Mississippi State tight end Eric Butler.
Tolson averaged 44.97 yards on 73 punts, including 26 that were downed inside the 20-yard line.
His net average was 36.5 yards. For his career, he averaged 42.6 yards on 181 kicks, landing 60 inside the 20-yard line.
Tolson added placekicking and field goal duties this past season, making eight of 15 field goal attempts, including a 45-yarder. He had eight touchbacks on 40 kickoffs.
Butler played in 45 games with 23 starts is four years, catching 50 passes for 635 yards and eight touchdowns.
He had eight catches for 71 this past season, starting five of 13 games.
